Name: Coty Slothour
- I have been coaching cross country and track/field for 7 years and other sports for 10 years. I started as a middle school volunteer coach under Coach Pecaitis for 2 years. From there, I became the head coach of the middle school cross country program. Last year I had the opportunity to coach the high school girls cross-country team.
In addition to coaching cross country, I am also a coach for the middle school track and field team here at Gettysburg Middle School.
- 2x all team member for track/field in high school for the 1600 and 3200. I’ve completed over half a dozen 5k races. 2x PA 4x800 team finalist. 3x letterman in Football. 2x - 3rd team all-county defensive back in YAIAA.
- My favorite coaching memory is honestly at the end of each season and seeing how the athletes have grown and progressed. Running is not an easy task or sport to complete in. Seeing these young athletes accept the challenge and accomplish that challenge is the most rewarding moment as a cross-country coach!
- My coaching philosophy revolves around passion, hard work and striving for excellence in both sports and in life. Emphasizing the importance of a strong work ethic, positive attitude and unwavering determination to achieving goals. Always encouraging a positive mindset and belief in one’s abilities.
Gettysburg is an awesome place to coach. The team here is supportive. The other coaches and ATs are the best in providing a safe place for our student athletes to thrive. Gettysburg is my home and a wonderful place to raise a family. Plus who wouldn’t want to run on the battlefield every day!
