MEET THE COACH- VARSITY SWIM COACH AMANDA PETROCCIA

Meet the Coach- Varsity Swim Coach Amanda Petroccia

KODY GODSEY

N/A | 10/20/2025

Name: Amanda Petroccia

Coaching Experience: This is my 30th year of coaching at Gettysburg High School.

Playing Experience: I swam for Seymour High school in CT and Gettysburg College (freestyle and butterfly).

Favorite Coaching Memory: Every time I see the smile on a swimmer's face when they meet or surpass a personal goal is the best feeling as a coach, but my proudest moments are when swimmers display good sportsmanship and help or encourage others. I especially love when a swimmer who can barely finish a practice when first coming out for the team, builds enough strength and respect to be elected captain and be a member of championship relay teams by their senior year.

Coaching Philosophy: My goal in coaching is for each of the athletes I have worked with to feel proud of their accomplishments and improve their swimming skills and times while learning how to be a positive and productive member of a team.

Why do you coach at Gettysburg?: I coach at Gettysburg because I teach at the high school so I know many of the swimmers as students as well as athletes. At Gettysburg we focus on the student-athlete as a whole person and personal improvements.

If your student has any interest in participating in Swimming this year, feel free to reach out to Coach Petroccia at ampetroccia@gasd-pa.org.
